Originally built as a traditional 18th-century farmhouse, Las Pergolas Villa Rural is a restored country stay on the outskirts of Tías, a small town on the Spanish island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.

Choose between 3 smaller apartments or the larger main villa, with options for couples, families and groups. Each has its own private outdoor space, while the main villa comes with two suites, a kitchen, dining room and a large shaded terrace overlooking the ocean.

Surrounded by almost 7,000 square metres of gardens, Las Pergolas feels peaceful and rural, yet the airport, beaches and many of Lanzarote's main attractions are only a short drive away.

Stays are usually a minimum of 2 to 3 nights, although exceptions may be possible.

Gardens made for island living
Almost 7,000 square metres of walled gardens surround Las Pergolas, with plenty of space to spend time outdoors and enjoy views towards Puerto del Carmen and the ocean. Native and desert plants suited to Lanzarote's dry climate fill the gardens, with terraces, shaded pergolas and quiet corners for reading, eating or simply relaxing outside. Located just outside Tías, Las Pergolas is also well placed for exploring the island's beaches, volcanic landscapes, villages and best-known sights.

Designed to use less
Recent renovations have focused on preserving and reusing original materials, sourcing locally whenever possible and working with craftspeople and artists from the island. Solar panels generate electricity and heat water, with almost 90% of the property's overall energy needs met through its own energy production since the renovations were completed. Thick stone walls and Lanzarote's mild climate also reduce the need for energy-intensive heating and cooling. Water is carefully managed too. Rainwater and treated wastewater are reused to irrigate the gardens, while the property's original water-storage system remains in use today.

Traditional Lanzarote architecture

Las Pergolas was restored and expanded in the 1970s by an architect and environmentalist who worked closely with César Manrique, the Lanzarote-born artist and architect known for designing buildings that work with the island's volcanic landscape. The property reflects traditional Lanzarote architecture through its whitewashed walls, wooden ceilings, rounded chimneys and locally made pottery. Many features were practical too, with roofs designed to collect precious rainwater for everyday use on an island where rainfall is limited.

Story behind Las Pergolas

Las Pergolas is owned by Franco, who took over the property from its previous owner, now a close friend, and has continued to care for it with a strong respect for its history.

The previous owner lived here for more than 50 years and was an architect and environmentalist whose work can still be seen across Lanzarote. He restored and expanded Las Pergolas in the 1970s and worked alongside influential Lanzarote artist and architect César Manrique on several projects across the island.

Today, Franco continues to preserve the property's original architecture and craftsmanship, working with local materials, craftspeople and artists wherever possible.

Spectacular accommodation, undoubtedly one of the most special on the entire island! There were seven of us friends, and we stayed in Villa Teguise and the Yaiza apartment, and from the moment we arrived, we felt like we were in a little private paradise. Everything is meticulously cared for, from the decor to the outdoor spaces. The inspiration from César Manrique's style is evident, with total harmony between the architecture and the surroundings. The pool area was one of our favorite spots, and we wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the barbecue area and other hidden spaces the villa has to offer. A unique place, full of charm and perfect for disconnecting with friends or family. Highly recommended! Furthermore, Franco's service and attention were outstanding. Another thing we loved is its proximity to the airport, a real advantage. We'll be back!

Amazing house with very nice architecture, in line with the famous Cesar Manrique architect from Lanzarote. Probably one of the nicest houses in Lanzarote. Perfect location for a week off. Perfectly equipped kitchen also if you want to do your own barbecue. Several terraces outside to relax and to drink/eat. 100% recommendation if you go to Lanzarote.

In addition to the excellent location, the experience of staying in a building with authentic local architecture, true to the aesthetics of César Manrique, made all the difference on the trip. The outdoor spaces are incredible, and the organization of the house transports us to the universe of the island, giving us the opportunity to experience the roots of Lanzarote.
