Planet & People

Remote and local

Casa del Chiodo sits in a village of just 50 people, with woodland stretching for kilometres in every direction. Everything here is local by default. From the products used to the people behind your stay, including staff and collaborators, everything comes from the surrounding area. The space is run by a multi generational family, where each person plays a role, from welcoming guests to preparing food and caring for the land.

A historic home, lived in

Set within a restored 19th century farmhouse, the space carries its history without feeling overly formal. Each room is different, combining original details with modern comforts. Fireplaces, terraces overlooking the Farma Valley, and large windows create spaces that feel warm, open and easy to settle into.

It is designed to feel like a home, surrounded by forests and open land.

Farm, food and the Italian kitchen

Casa del Chiodo follows a zero kilometre approach, where ingredients come directly from the surrounding fields or nearby producers. Vegetables are grown on site and even game comes from the local hunting tradition, creating meals that are deeply tied to the region. The kitchen is a central part of daily life here. It brings everything together, from what is grown to what is served. Each dish reflects Tuscan tradition, shaped by seasonality, simplicity and a close connection to raw ingredients.

Story Behind Casa del Chiodo

Casa del Chiodo began with a decision to live differently.

At the centre of it all is Paola, who realised her dream of creating a family farm, guided by her love of the countryside.

Today, the space is run across generations. Irene brings new ideas and energy to the house, Giulia welcomes guests and prepares homemade cakes, while Marisa, Renato, Paolo and Marco each play their part in keeping everything running. It is a place built on people, where daily life, food and hospitality are all closely connected.
