Tromsø, Norway
The magic of the Arctic is accessible to everyone.
Tromsø Accessible Tours is a social enterprise that designs year round adventure itineraries, making Northern Norway possible for everyone, including travellers with disabilities, specific mobility needs, cognitive differences or language barriers.
From September to April, it is about chasing the Northern Lights. In summer, it is multi day journeys under the Midnight Sun.
This is not a separate category of tourism. It is tourism designed properly from the beginning.
Tromsø Accessible Tours is currently the only dedicated accessible tourism company in Tromsø.
Travellers with and without disabilities join the same experiences. You can hop onto a scheduled tour or request something tailored. The starting point is not limitation. It is possibility.
When asked if something is accessible, their objective is to say yes. If it is not yet accessible, they work to remove the barriers.
Breaking barriers in the Arctic
Accessibility here goes beyond ramps and vehicles. It includes cognitive needs, language support and adapting experiences so they are genuinely inclusive. Whether it is viewing the Northern Lights, exploring fjords or discovering Arctic landscapes, the team works around barriers rather than accepting them.
Access for the local community Deeply embedded in the local community, the team uses tourism as a way to improve accessibility in the town itself for both residents and visitors, helping shift what adventure travel in Northern Norway can look like.
Story behind Tromsø Accessible Tours
The idea began with Martin, the founder who believes magical places should not come with restrictions.
Martin has worked in tourism in Tromsø for years and what stuck with him most was how many travellers with specific needs were told the Arctic was “not for them”.
After guiding a multi day tour for people with reduced mobility in 2019 and witnessing first hand how difficult it was for them to access the landscapes around Tromsø, Martin asked a simple question: what if access was not the exception, but the starting point?
Tromsø Accessible Tours grew from that idea, using tourism to break down barriers and open up the Northern Lights, the Midnight Sun and Arctic landscapes to everyone.
This fjords tour was beautiful, and Valentina made it even better.
She was warm, easy to be around, and a very good driver. The whole day felt relaxed and smooth. She picked great spots to stop, nothing random, nothing rushed - just the right places to take in the views and enjoy the moment.
The drive through Kvaløya and out to Sommarøy was stunning, lunch was lovely, and everything flowed naturally. Valentina’s care and good choices really showed throughout the tour.

From the very first email enquiry to the final airport drop-off, the entire experience was smooth, professional, and absolutely wonderful. The team behind these tours are not only knowledgeable and courteous, but also incredibly thoughtful and accommodating – making the magic of Tromsø accessible for all.
We joined the Aurora Tour for All with our fantastic guide, Louai. From the comfortable pick-up in an accessible van to exploring the best spots to see the Northern Lights, the entire evening was seamless and unforgettable. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience – made even better knowing that accessibility was never a barrier.
Booking and payments were straightforward, with clear communication every step of the way. The team was flexible and happy to make any necessary adjustments to ensure that every member of our group – including one using a walker and another using a wheelchair – felt included and comfortable.
Beyond the Northern Lights, Tromsø Accessible Tours offers a range of incredible experiences suited to all abilities, including:
A serene boat cruise through the fjords
Fjord and Island tours by van, stopping at stunning viewpoints along the way
City tours, including visits to the Arctic Cathedral and local museum.
One of the highlights was receiving beautiful photos after each tour – a thoughtful touch that meant we could relive the memories and share them with friends and family. Such a great way to take home a few special mementos from the trip!
Special thanks to Martin, our guide on the fjord tour – he was full of fascinating facts and showed genuine care for everyone in the group. Also a big shoutout to Jo and Max in the office, who coordinated everything behind the scenes and made the whole process feel effortless.
Pick-up locations were conveniently close to our hotel, and the drop-off at the airport at the end of our trip was just as smooth. When travelling with additional needs, it's natural to have concerns – but the team at Tromsø Accessible Tours were kind, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable and stress-free experience.
I highly recommend them to anyone – especially those travelling with mobility aids – who want to explore Tromsø in comfort and with confidence. It was an absolute highlight of our trip to Norway!

What a wonderful tour of Tromso with Anastasia/ tour guide and Louai our driver. Visited Cathedral, town center, Artic University.
We enjoyed a nearby park and beach. We also saw Reindeer.
Highly recommend as they meet you at the dock, take you to private van. Accessible for wheelchairs too. Small groups too.
