This part of Europe has long been approached either as a checklist of destinations or remains less explored by many travellers but with MonMon Travel, the focus is on local life, from time spent in smaller communities to moments that reflect everyday culture and tradition.

Built with the people who live here
MonMon Travel works mostly with small, locally owned partners across the region. They do not run their own tours but instead collaborate with people who are already part of the destination, from accommodation providers to experience hosts. Each partner is selected carefully, based on trust, quality and how they operate within their community. This approach keeps travel spending within the destination and supports the people and businesses that make these experiences possible.

Story Behind MonMon Travel
MonMon Travel was founded by Moonika, who built the company after years of working in the tourism industry in the region, with a degree in Nature Tourism.
After years of working with an American tourism company, bringing travellers to the region, she saw the opportunity to create something more personal and locally connected. During Covid, she started MonMon Travel with the goal of designing trips that felt more authentic and aligned with the places themselves, rather than treating them as a checklist.
Today, the company works closely with trusted local partners across Northern Europe. Trips are shaped by the team’s knowledge of the region, their relationships on the ground and their belief that travel should be both meaningful for travellers and beneficial for the communities they visit.

I cannot recommend Moonika enough from MonMon to plan your Lapland trip. We did Estonia, Helsnki, Levi and Ivalo and everything was seamless. This was an AMAZING trip with zero frustration. She stayed in touch with us the entire trip and was always available for questions.

This was a very last-minute trip. Moonika showed her expertise and savvy in promptly providing an itinerary of travel, accommodations, and outdoor winter activities available during Rovaniemi's high season that had everything we wanted - plus a few things we didn't know we wanted! Our time in Helsinki was also fascinating, and the day trip to Tallin, Estonia was fantastic. While we were on the trip, Moonika stayed in touch and was especially helpful in contacting a snowmobile tour company to help retrieve a lost phone! You could tell she was poised and ready to go above and beyond to assure we had an unforgettable Nordic vacation, which is truly what we experienced.

We had an absolutely incredible experience in Rovaniemi, all thanks to Moonika’s exceptional planning. From the very beginning, she was extremely responsive—every email was answered promptly, and she offered a competitive price without compromising on quality. What truly set her apart was the unique range of experiences she curated for us: the breathtaking Korouoma Canyon hike, an intimate small-group aurora chase where we were thoroughly taken care of, and a husky sleigh ride that even allowed us to self-drive. Every activity felt personalised and thoughtfully arranged, never like a mainstream, rushed tour.
Throughout the trip, Moonika remained contactable via WhatsApp, always checking in on us to make sure everything was going smoothly. The accommodations she selected were perfect. Arctic Light Hotel was spacious, clean, centrally located, and served an excellent breakfast—especially appreciated by our lactose-free traveller. It was also just a minute’s walk from Safartica, our main meeting point, and a short stroll from the shopping street.
Vaatunki Wilderness Resort was another highlight. The glass igloos offered an unforgettable Northern Lights experience, supported by live updates and alerts through the app. We also enjoyed wonderful husky and reindeer activities. On top of that, the resort features a beautiful nature trail that leads into a breathtaking forest filled with towering pine trees blanketed in snow—an absolutely magical place to explore.
We are honestly so grateful for this personalised, intimate, and truly special trip. It was everything we hoped for and more—nothing felt commercial or rushed. We will definitely be recommending Moonika to anyone planning a memorable experience in Rovaniemi. Highly, highly recommended!
