Keeping tourism money in the region
Troulanders works directly with small businesses, independent producers, artisans and local guides, helping more of what travellers spend remain within the communities they visit.

Accommodation is also selected with local livelihoods in mind, favouring locally run hotels and bed-and-breakfasts that employ people from the surrounding area and take a responsible approach to tourism.

By involving local musicians, chefs, craftspeople and other cultural experts, these trips create opportunities for residents to share their knowledge, earn an income and continue traditions that might otherwise struggle to survive.

Traditions that are still part of everyday life
Galicia has a rich cultural heritage, with traditions that continue to play an important role in local communities today.

Troulanders builds its trips around these living traditions, from regional festivals and music to traditional crafts and food production. You might meet the people keeping centuries-old skills alive, explore the history of a medieval town or take part in celebrations that have been passed down through generations.

Rather than simply hearing about the region's history, you'll have opportunities to experience how its customs continue to influence everyday life.

Discover Galicia through its food
Food is an important part of Galician culture and Troulanders takes travellers beyond the restaurant table to meet the people responsible for producing it.

Along the Rías Baixas coast, you can accompany shellfish harvesters, meet fishermen and visit local winemakers before learning to prepare regional dishes with a chef. Inland, discover traditional cheesemaking, local markets and the food customs of historic towns.

There are also culinary experiences along the Camino de Santiago, connecting different stages of the famous pilgrimage route with the ingredients, recipes and producers of each area.

Story behind Troulanders

Troulanders grew from founder Leticia's years of travelling around the world, searching for places where local traditions, food and culture were still an important part of everyday life.

Returning home to Galicia, she realised that much of the region's tourism promotion focused on familiar landmarks, while its craftspeople, producers, celebrations and lesser-known cultural traditions received far less attention.

She created Troulanders to help visitors discover the Galicia she knows and loves, introducing them to its people, stories and customs while ensuring that those preserving its cultural heritage also benefit from tourism.
