Hidden within 5 acres of tropical jungle on Mexico's Pacific coast, just 10 minutes from the coastal town of San Pancho, Tailwind Jungle Lodge offers a place to slow down, switch off and reconnect with nature.

Designed for adventurous travellers, the lodge is equally suited to wellness retreats and small group gatherings. Wake to birdsong, spend afternoons reading in a hammock or exploring the nearby coastline before returning to the peaceful surroundings of the jungle.

Fast Wi-Fi is available in the office when needed but the rest of the property is intentionally free from mobile signal, creating space to disconnect and be fully present in nature.

Family-owned since opening in 2005, Tailwind Jungle Lodge continues to be run by three generations of the same family, who live on-site and personally welcome guests from around the world.

As a family-owned business, supporting the local community has always been at the heart of Tailwind Jungle Lodge. The team employs local staff and works closely with local chefs, guides, artisans and wellness practitioners, while encouraging guests to explore the restaurants, markets and small businesses of nearby San Pancho. The lodge also supports community organisations such as EntreAmigos through donations, fundraising initiatives and donated stays. By working with local people and encouraging visitors to spend time in the surrounding community, Tailwind helps ensure tourism benefits more than just the accommodation itself.

Story Behind Tailwind Jungle Lodge

Tailwind Jungle Lodge began as a family dream. Founded by Tigre and Judi in 2005, it is now run by their daughter, Tamara, with three generations of the family continuing to live on-site and welcome guests.

While studying Environmental Economics, Tamara developed the business plan for the lodge during her final semester at university. What started as a college project has since grown into a family-run ecolodge welcoming adventurous travellers from around the world.

The family's journey also inspired Tamara's book, Wildpreneurs, which shares the story of building the lodge and following an unconventional dream.

We had such an extraordinary stay at Tailwind Jungle Lodge. My partner and I were looking for somewhere to completely disconnect from our busy lives for a week and be one with nature. This was definitely the place to do that !! Tamara, Walter and their lovely family were superb hosts, making sure we were comfortable and sharing stories of how their jungle project came to be. We stayed in Parota, a beautiful palapa with kitchen open to the jungle. I love to read and this was the absolute best place to do that. Supremely relaxing and nurturing. There’s a beautiful secluded beach a 20 minute hike away and a pool for refreshing dips at the end of the day on the property. A 10mn drive on a twisting jungle road brings you to the charming town of San Pancho with it’s lively music scene and tasty restaurants. I can’t recommend the experience enough !!

My family and I absolutely loved our stay at Tailwind. It is a magical kind of place, filled with charm, beauty, and spirit. Our family occupied several of the palapas, including the combined Tigre and Gecko palapas. It is breathtaking to wake up in these buildings and be surrounded by the sights and sounds of the jungle and, in the case of Tigre, the majestic view of the ocean. It is also a great space for a large gathering. Tamara, Walter, Tigre, and Judy could not have been more welcoming. The nearby town of San Pancho is also lively and full of charm.

This is my second time going to Tailwind Jungle Lodge. It is a truly special place. Healing, restorative, peaceful ... and yes... away from the hustle and bustle of town. Which is just what we wanted and needed. We didn't rent a car, and just had a driver pick us up and bring us back... when we needed to do a grocery run in San Pancho. Tamara and the whole jungle family were so kind and welcoming. Yes... there ARE stairs. (We got in better shape!) Yes... there are occasional bugs. (You are in a jungle!) There is also clean air, birds, a breathtaking jungle canopy of trees to let your softened gaze rest. The yoga temple brought me to tears of gratitude. I hope to be back sooner.
