Tailwind Jungle Lodge

Accommodation Women-owned
San Pancho, Mexico

Reconnect with nature in the Mexican jungle

Hidden within 5 acres of tropical jungle on Mexico's Pacific coast, just 10 minutes from the coastal town of San Pancho, Tailwind Jungle Lodge offers a place to slow down, switch off and reconnect with nature.

Designed for adventurous travellers, the lodge is equally suited to wellness retreats and small group gatherings. Wake to birdsong, spend afternoons reading in a hammock or exploring the nearby coastline before returning to the peaceful surroundings of the jungle.

Fast Wi-Fi is available in the office when needed but the rest of the property is intentionally free from mobile signal, creating space to disconnect and be fully present in nature.

Family-owned since opening in 2005, Tailwind Jungle Lodge continues to be run by three generations of the same family, who live on-site and personally welcome guests from around the world.

Supporting the local community

As a family-owned business, supporting the local community has always been at the heart of Tailwind Jungle Lodge. The team employs local staff and works closely with local chefs, guides, artisans and wellness practitioners, while encouraging guests to explore the restaurants, markets and small businesses of nearby San Pancho. The lodge also supports community organisations such as EntreAmigos through donations, fundraising initiatives and donated stays. By working with local people and encouraging visitors to spend time in the surrounding community, Tailwind helps ensure tourism benefits more than just the accommodation itself.

Nature at your doorstep

Tailwind Jungle Lodge is designed to immerse guests in its natural surroundings. The treehouse-inspired accommodation sits amongst the jungle canopy, with hiking trails leading to secluded beaches and opportunities to experience the region's remarkable biodiversity just steps from your room. It's a place where nature isn't something you visit for a few hours but something you wake up to each day.

Simplicity in mind

Everything at Tailwind Jungle Lodge is guided by a simple philosophy: everything you need and nothing you don't. Rather than focusing on luxury for luxury's sake, the family has intentionally created a place where nature takes centre stage. From the simple design of the accommodation to the absence of mobile signal across most of the property, many of the choices encourage guests to slow down, reconnect and appreciate their surroundings.

Story Behind Tailwind Jungle Lodge

Tailwind Jungle Lodge began as a family dream. Founded by Tigre and Judi in 2005, it is now run by their daughter, Tamara, with three generations of the family continuing to live on-site and welcome guests.

While studying Environmental Economics, Tamara developed the business plan for the lodge during her final semester at university. What started as a college project has since grown into a family-run ecolodge welcoming adventurous travellers from around the world.

The family's journey also inspired Tamara's book, Wildpreneurs, which shares the story of building the lodge and following an unconventional dream.
