The team is local and supports a range of initiatives, from the local food bank and wildlife rescue organisations to reforestation projects, the Nosara Recycling Center and public schools. From the Ostional Wildlife Refuge to grassroots education programs, the hotel sees itself as part of a larger living system that includes forest, beach, wildlife and the people who call Nosara home.

Sustainability built in

Before Olas Verdes was built, this land had already been cleared decades ago for cattle ranching. The forest you see today is the result of community reforestation efforts across Nosara. Energy, water and waste systems were designed with long term impact in mind, creating a model of tourism that supports conservation in Costa Rica.

Nature first
Olas Verdes sits at the edge of protected land, within walking distance of Playa Guiones’ white sand beach. Most of the trees on the property were preserved during construction and the buildings were carefully positioned to maintain wildlife corridors. Native plants were selected for habitat value, creating space for birds and animals to thrive alongside guests.

Story behind Olas Verdes

The name means Green Waves. Jungle behind you. Ocean a short walk ahead.

Olas Verdes was built after much of this land had already been restored, with one clear intention: build within the forest instead of dominating the landscape.

A thousand thanks for making our vacation the best one ever!!! We loved absolutely everything about your hotel! What a special place you have, with the best people, tucked away in amazing Nosara!!! A sincere thank you to everyone at Olas Verdes; right from the front desk who was always ready to answer our questions, to the guys that keep everything looking perfect, to housekeeping who always gave us a warm hello and especially all of the lovely, warm and kind staff who we had the pleasure of meeting during our meals to Olas Verdes' fantastic restaurant!!! My daughter still raves about all of her meals! Bravo chef!!! I was a little cautious about travelling with just myself and my daughter, but I can honestly say, we have found our forever going back to spot!!! I can honestly say that everyone's reviews of Olas Verdes is 100% accurate! Totally a 5 star hotel, tucked in a corner of paradise! Olas Verdes was by far our favourite hotel of our 3-week vacation around Costa Rica. Upon arrival, our baggage was delivered from the car straight to our room and we got a little tour of the hotel by the reception staff. The room itself was very cosy, nicely decorated and quiet (despite being close to the restaurant). We enjoyed staying at the beautiful pool and walking to the beach every evening for sunset. They offer surf classes, yoga classes and early morning bird watching tour. We did all of it and only had a bed nice experience. The bird watching tour was particularly nice and their guide José made it really pleasant. The hotel restaurant is a big plus - from breakfast to dinner, everything is really good (a bit pricey but worth it for the quality) and the entire staff was so nice and very attentive to our two year old daughter. We stayed there for 4 nights and would have loved to stay longer. We hope to be able to go back one day !

An absolutely delightful oasis. We loved the 2 minute walk to the beach, the surf vibes, and watching the iguanas in the trees from the pool. On site restaurant/bar also fantastic and wonderfully located just next to the main pool. The staff here is exceptionally welcoming, warm, and helpful. We loved taking the bikes into town, cooling off in the pool in the afternoons and evening, and catching sunset at the beach. We also appreciated how eco friendly the hotel is. Would absolutely stay here again!
