Serenity Bali Eco Guesthouse & Yoga
Long-running eco guesthouse and yoga retreat near the beach.
Family-run since 1999, Serenity Bali has grown into a supportive space for travellers looking to slow down, reset and reconnect.
Blending everyday comfort with smart, low-impact design and community-centred values, it offers daily yoga, a fully vegan restaurant, and a mix of private rooms and backpacker-friendly stays, welcoming everyone, whether you’re here to practice, rest or simply breathe a little deeper.
Wellness at its core
Daily yoga classes, meditation sessions, retreats and teacher trainings all happen here, alongside hands-on community workshops.
Eco design that works alongside nature
Serenity Bali was ahead of its time. Long before sustainability was a buzzword, the team began composting and permaculture systems in 1999, turning degraded farmland into a thriving garden of orchids, bees, bananas and medicinal plants.
Buildings use bamboo and recycled materials like bottle walls, with everyday systems designed around water reuse and natural cleaning.
Food from the land
At Alkaline Restaurant, the menu is fully vegan, featuring raw and plant-rich dishes grown in the on-site permaculture garden. Simple and fresh, the food fits a lifestyle that values knowing what you put in your body while travelling.
Story behind Serenity Bali
Serenity Bali started with a family and a simple idea: to build something locally led at a time when sustainability wasn’t on anyone’s map.
French-born founder Daniel Chieppa and his Balinese wife, Yatna, chose land others had written off and began restoring it through permaculture and hands-on care.
Today, Serenity Bali is run by the second generation, led by Krishna, who also co-founded the Jiwa Community Garden, keeping its focus firmly on local livelihoods, practical sustainability and everyday care for the land.
