Experiences range from free walking tours to small group and private tours, depending on how you prefer to explore. The free tours operate on a pay what you feel model, allowing travellers to decide the value of the experience after taking part. Across formats, the focus stays the same: clear storytelling, local insight and a way to engage with the place beyond typical tours.
Tours run across Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, Cali, Santa Marta and Salento, each led by Colombian guides with their own lived experience and perspective. The network includes over 60 freelance guides from different professional and academic backgrounds, bringing depth to how stories are told. You are not just walking through a city, you are hearing it explained by someone who lives it every day.
Beyond Colombia works through a network of independent guides and local services. This creates income for guides and supports wider local systems, from transport providers to small businesses involved along the way. Because of how the tours are structured, what you spend goes directly to the people delivering the experience.
Beyond Colombia began with a group of guides who wanted to change how their country was presented to visitors beyond headlines and assumptions.
Instead of simplified narratives or fixed scripts, they focused on sharing Colombia through their own experiences, backgrounds and knowledge.
Today, it has grown into a collective of guides across the country, connected by a shared approach to inform, connect and create impact on local communities and economies through every tour.
Beyond Colombia Bogotá - in English Great staff, excellent tours (both free and paid). I had time to kill in Bogotá so I booked 4 tours with them (exotic fruits tour, day tour, food tour, and Zipaquirá salt cathedral) and all were amazing. Tour guides are extremely well versed about their beloved city/country so ask them questions. They have all given me the best recommendations and advice. I want to give a shout out to Naty, Rafael, Sebastián and Natalia for going above and beyond.
Beyond Colombia offered some really great tours. I did two with them, the historical walking tour, as well as the Armed Conflict tour. Both were very fun and informative. Highly recommend the Armed Conflict tour if you have time. Camillo was a phenomenal guide- he was very knowledgeable and dynamic, providing a lot of additional information based on interests of the group.
My second time in Bogotá, but my first time taking a guided tour, and it exceeded my expectations. The information shared was so interesting, and Colombia’s history is truly fascinating. Our guide, Lorenzo, has excellent knowledge, and his storytelling kept us engaged the entire time. A really nice experience.
