From paddling through crystal-clear waters to landing on deserted beaches, each experience is designed to feel personal, unhurried and deeply connected to nature.

Every tour is led by certified local guides, many with backgrounds in biology, environmental engineering and nature-based tourism.

Their knowledge goes beyond safety and technique, weaving in stories of the coastline’s geology, marine life and history, from seabirds and underwater ecosystems to tales of pirates and smugglers who once used these hidden beaches.

These guided kayak tours take you through sea caves, grottoes and along sculpted cliffs, including the iconic Benagil Cave and lesser-known spots most visitors never see. Tours are beginner-friendly and paced to suit families, couples and small groups.

With over 25 years of experience, Benagil Eco Tours keeps groups intentionally small. Tours launch from a rare private access point to a secluded beach, allowing quieter entry into the water and time to explore without crowds.

Story behind Benagil Eco Tours
Founded by a passionate local, Vitor Lopes, Benagil Eco Tours began in 2001, with a deep connection to this stretch of coastline.

Based on a working farm near one of the area’s wildest and most remote beaches, the team grew up exploring these waters long before they appeared on postcards.

That connection shaped their approach, sharing the Algarve as locals know it, with care, patience and respect for the land and sea.

Beyond tours, the team is actively involved in wildlife care, from rescuing injured animals to supporting their rehabilitation, reinforcing a long-standing commitment to nature that goes far beyond the kayak.
