The property is powered by solar energy and designed with a low-impact footprint, while around 30–40% of the land is left untouched so local ecosystems can thrive. From lighting to toiletries to waste systems, every choice is made with care.

For the island

Meals are served at Ijo, the on-site restaurant championing fresh, locally sourced ingredients in every dish. Behind the scenes, the entire team, from builders to front desk, is 100% local, keeping skills, knowledge and opportunity within the local community.

Desa Hay was created as an invitation to rethink what a Bali stay can look like.

Built with respect for the land and the people who shape it, the space was designed to show that mindful travel doesn’t have to feel dull, it can be beautiful, comfortable and deeply rooted in place.

That philosophy extends beyond the villas. Through the Desa Hay Scholarship Fund, local children are supported to stay in school, while community permaculture workshops and waste-sorting demos open the doors for shared learning and long-term impact.
